Was it worth the plunge? 1 year into PSVITA otome gaming

Welcome, Ladies.

One year ago I was fawning over my Vita (now a comfortable oldie) at this post and I’m currently back to replaying my old PC games. Having been gaming furiously for the past year with PSVITA otome games, I’m trying to take a step back with a hand on my beard to ponder whether it had been worth the switch to a vita. I’ve churned out 11 reviews for the PSVITA and for those who’ve been following and reading my posts, you’ll know if I enjoyed the games or not. So how has it been? Were the games any good? Were the games worth any of you spending money to get a PSVITA for future games anyway? Do new otome games utilise the vita well anyway?

Jyuuguchi brings you a special post. A round of applause please.  Continue reading

This issue commemorates their anniversary (20th, was it?) so there was an animate limited edition and I bought that.

Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS translations – Shian (Fourth key)

img_shian_b

The Fourth Key: The utterly depraved scarecrow “Shian”
CV: Takahashi Naozumi
Release Date: July 23

When things don’t go well, he blames it all on others. When he starts worrying, he has a habit of going crazy and since he takes everything in a negative manner, he gets addicted to things easily. Blood brothers with Tenma.

His character design is my favourite along with Haruto’s, and what do you mean by utterly depraved?! (*´∀`*) (Gyaku Moe!!) Like TeiStar, July is my most awaited month since my two favourite characters from two series are out. And TakaNao is the perfect seiyuu for this character!

Taisho Guuzou Roman: Teikoku Star – Isao translations

Please buy the CDs if you like the series! They are available on a variety of websites like Rakuten, Amazon, CDJapan, and the original CD makers. CD pirating undermines the work of the seiyuus, storywriters and others involved in making the CDs. So please buy an original copy!

==========================================

I took an entire week to listen to this, one track a day since I’ve been busy rewatching Magi and playing RPGs on top of full-shifts in my work and playing Jyuzaengi2. Oh, but you didn’t want to hear about me. You wanted to hear about Isao. (・∀・)

Isao’s music tracks are lovely, and his deep hate of women is obvious. Though he thinks he plays around with women, I get the feeling that he’s played around by them… even from the second track. And if you finish listening all the way you’ll understand. Well at least he isn’t a two-face, so I appreciated his evil character more than Seishirou. Also, when he is polite, it’s a real kind of politeness, like he has a real gentleman-liness underneath that raepist mask, unlike Seishirou who acts all princely but is so fake.

His was a happy ending compared to Seishirou’s, which made me kind of ‘Meh, I want a tragedy!!’ (sorry for being me (*´∀`*) And seeing his end made me a little cynical, thinking “You’ll regret this…. love is not all!” So, my favourite line would be when he was still playing around and thinking:  “Like… Love…. all that is just a farce for the sake of indulging in deep pleasure.”

It’s such a sad and twisted thinking but it makes sense. Well then, have fun reading.

Opening Act

Isao introduces in character the meeting of him and the heroine. “The time is Taisho, the stage is Marunouchi, Tokyo, the flowery capital of Japan. A theatre opening here today, a department store opening there tomorrow… Due to the remnant effects of World War 2, the city is overflowing with western culture. The start of the story is of course, the teikoku theatre that all the ladies are talking about….. not, but on top of a hill in a luxurious mansion. There, a girl comes knocking hurriedly…” Continue reading

Soubou Sangokushi : Sho Katsu Riou translations

My thoughts about Sho’s track. It’s ecchi. Seriously. Nothing short of R18. I swear. Though it doesn’t make a difference if you don’t understand Japanese… since all you’ll understand are the chu~chu sounds. And my favourite line from hi track is…. “What suits the both of us is not walking under the sunlight together…. But holding breaths in the darkness and entangling ourselves…” It seems so dark and sad.

Please buy a copy of the CD to enjoy it! They are available on a variety of websites including Amazon, Animate Online Shop and other international stores.

One

The story opens with Sho (Sho Katsu Riou) narrating how the emperor lost his place of power since the whole country was undergoing a period of war, and many Generals aimed to be the next emperor whether they were famous or not. Many of them failed or were assassinated or died from illness. Sho says he admires them since whether they lived a short life or not, they saw dreams and shone brightly. He then says he can’t fight and wonder what he should dream about, and that called ‘the sleeping dragon’, he wonders will he really live sleeping. But one day, a dream appeared in front of him….. Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS translations – Chikage (Second Key)

** These are from the official website, I only translated them.

img_chikage_b

The Second Key: The west magician “Chikage”
CV: Kondou Takashi
Release Date: May 28

The bewitching magician of the west, he’s the type that can generally do everything, since being born with talent and is thinking hard of a way to do away with humans all at once. Brothers with Keisa and Haruto, he’s the twin of Keisa but they have completely different personalities.

I seriously think KondouT’s voice doesn’t really suit Chikage… Chikage is somewhat of a ‘Everything’s troublesome” guy and one of those feminine clean-freaks, and Kimura Ryohei seems to be more suitable when I think of him in Diabolik Mosquitoes Lovers as Mukami Kou. But of course, KondouT and HirakawaD are both pretty famous for their ability to voice ‘H’ stuffs (; ・`ω・´) which is probably why they’re cast as the first two characters to draw more crowd.

Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS translations – Haruto

Sigh. If they didn’t put Hirakawa Daisuke as the first guy I would’ve gotten the whole series. I’ve nothing against the seiyuu, its just that his voice and the character he’s playing doesn’t match. The art is really nice so I wanted to buy the whole series like I did for Teikoku Star, but ヽ(´ー`)┌ no point spending on seiyuus you don’t really like.

The story of Rejet’s Oz: (ORZ :p)
The heroine sees a strange dream many times over, one in which she and six brothers pretend to be the characters of the Wizard of Oz in a place that looks like an orphanage… She remembers reading the story of Oz before and takes up the book, wondering what was the story about when suddenly she gets sucked into the world of Oz. In there, she hears a voice telling her “If you want to return to your own world, get the keys…” An adventure overflowing with mysterious possibilities starts as you head for the Emerald City. A broken world, and you who turn  mad…

Dot Kareshi~We’re 8 bit lovers! I + II + III

This game was a little short for me, but setting was interesting so decided to try it out. The length probably isn’t a problem for most people since it’s probably a filler games, or they like Namikawa, or the concept itself is interesting. To be honest, I started this game because I love playing RPGs and I like Matsukaze, Morikubo, Yamaguchi and Toriumi’s voice 😀 Namikawa and Hirakawa and fine, but they’ve been out so much that I’ve gotten bored of their voices lol.

The music was really cute and the battle scenes were not bad. And the fact that they all just want to make a move on her is hilarious. The romance was lacking for me because, well… it’s only an hour’s worth of play for the first character and less once you skip the common routes… But as a player of RPGs I gotta give the heroine some credit. Maxing levels just by grinding even though often running out of potions… Besides that, making them walk all the way without telerocks or carriages… switching off the effects… I can see why they are angry at her 😀 ahaha Continue reading
