Prince of Stride – Otome Game Review

No spoiler review!
One week before the release of this game, the Cero B scared me off so I had it preordered and cancelled twice. But in the end, I found out it was Gold Rating, and mini games are waaaaay up my alley so why not!

This game reads more like a sports manga than an otome game, though naturally so, since it started out as a manga series anyway. If you’re looking for lots of cute love scenes and moe-able characters or good writing about the complications of having a crush on someone, you ain’t gonna find it here. But in return, what you get is (quite) a realistic story of how a team that was almost broken up gets motivated to run for each other and end up with good memories of a sport they once abandoned.

Also, for once, high school boys act like high school boys with their silly (but funny) play acts, dreaming that the heroine kissed them intensely(lol) and getting teased by the older people in the game. Strangely, even though the love between the characters are not obvious, it sits well with me because it’s a very typical portrayal of relationships where kids spend time with each other, knowing each other and helping each other out then getting together. All good.

Happy Sugar Darlin’ – Satu CD Review Summary

So I’ve been misreading the bear’s name for six months until now (;・∀・) I thought it’d be Satou, Japanese for sugar but upon closer inspection after I heard ‘Satu’ its written as さとぅ!! I googled and found this:

[ syll. sa-tu, sat-u ] The baby girl name Satu is also used as a boy name. It is pronounced Saa-Tuw- . Satu has its origins in the Japanese and Finnish languages. It is used largely in Finnish and Scandinavian. Finnish origin: It is derived literally from the word satu which is of the meaning ‘fairy tale’. In addition, Satu is a form of the name Sato.

And so it seems. On to revealing the Cd jacket!  Continue reading

Oz to Himitsu no Ai – Airu translations & final thoughts

When we heard of a “Oz to Himitsu no Ai True Key” I’m sure we were all pretty much (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ It doesn’t end with Airu the Great magician? Hell no. That’s Rejet for you. “The last door” opens on October 22, the same date as Wasurenagusa3’s sale date.

I expected myself to like Airu’s CD the most, and I guess I do. His extreme sis-con can appear a little yandere at times, but the lack of ecchi in his CD actually makes it better. I just felt like an idiot when I sat there blankly listening to the rest of the brothers doing stuff to the heroine. They just seem so hungry for XXX. I get that they’ve never seen a woman in their lifetime (women in this world of OZ are hated and shunned) but the fact they know how to touch the heroine and laugh hysterically when she reacts voids the whole no-woman setting. They must have read lots of porn mags. (;・∀・)

The heroine is extremely pitiable. She has to be the most pitiable of all the Otome game heroines ever. Let me explain: If you read Airu’s final SS, (https://jyuuguchi.wordpress.com/2014/08/15/oz-to-himitsu-no-ai-ss-translations-airu/) you would know why. But if you didn’t here’s a summary:

The heroine and Airu are blood siblings, who lost their parents due to a disease, and were thus taken in by the orphanage. Continue reading

For Jyuzaengi 2 lovers: character popularity surprise

Sorry for being too free. So what’s the surprise about this whole Jyuzaengi2?

ffff

The characters gather to hear about the results of the popularity contest, and it is revealed that there will be a situation CD released based on one of these themes:

A date / Marriage interview / master and servant / looking after him when he’s sick and …….

Sleeping together

So who won the popularity contest?  Continue reading

Jyuzaengi Engetsu Sangokuden 2 – Review

The system got better here, without having to complete the Peach Garden to move on in the story, and the fiery home background was really to my liking. The music was the same as the first game, with  few more addition of tracks at different places and more character themes. I didn’t like this OP as much as the first game, as Takagaki Ayahi’s vocals here were horrible. Her high note was really forced and jarring to the ears. I never really liked her singing voice, though her continuing in the music industry proves to me that the seiyuu industry sells whatever they can to push up the reputation of seiyuus….

Take note that while the two Jyuza games have never-dying never-aging characters, the real battles spanned around 24 years. This game did make me quite amused, as out of all Chinese history, to this day the battle at Chi Bi remains one of my favourites.

First, since the Chinese and annoying Japanese readings of the characters are quite different, let me re-introduce them, (with random historical bits I remember thrown in)

Liu Bi Army

Liu Bi – Is read Liu Bei in the Chinese way. He was the first emperor of the three kingdoms and known for his benevolence to the country people.

Kan U – Guan Yu. Was a GUY, and was a criminal who fled from his country rofl and joined Liu Bei’s voluntary army. He is worshipped as a god by some Chinese religions.

Chou Hi – Zhang Fei, eventually married Ka Kou En’s niece. His daughter married Liu Bei’s son and became a queen. (Please imagine this game’s Chou Hi doing that. rofl) Continue reading

Oz to Himitsu to Ai SS Translations – Keisa (Third Key)

Again, disclaimer, these stories are from the official website. I only translate them! I’ll probably be doing Keisa’s drama track translation as well, stay tuned! (Updates appear on the twitter feed)

The Third Key: The violent lion “Keisa”

Release Date: June 25

If there’something he’s not happy with, his fists are quick to move. He’s the type that can’t apologise honestly, and no matter what happens, he doesn’t reflect on it. He’s not good at being the listener in conversations and is the twin of Chikage the magician, but has a completely different personality. Blood brother also with Haruto.

Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS Translations

Translations for the Short Stories from the Official Website.  The stories will be updated as the official website is updated, so my translation timings will follow them.

Please buy the CDs if you like the series! They are available on a variety of websites like Rakuten, Amazon, CDJapan, and the original CD makers. CD pirating undermines the work of the seiyuus, storywriters and others involved in making the CDs. So please buy an original copy! Feel free to contact me, I’d be most willing to help you get your own copy.

The stories add depth to the situation CD tracks and help you fill in the gaps of whatever is not already heard in the CDs. Also, the SS are different because the brothers speak to each other in the stories, so we get to take a peek at their relationships with each other.

Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS translations – Chikage (Second Key)

** These are from the official website, I only translated them.

img_chikage_b

The Second Key: The west magician “Chikage”
CV: Kondou Takashi
Release Date: May 28

The bewitching magician of the west, he’s the type that can generally do everything, since being born with talent and is thinking hard of a way to do away with humans all at once. Brothers with Keisa and Haruto, he’s the twin of Keisa but they have completely different personalities.

I seriously think KondouT’s voice doesn’t really suit Chikage… Chikage is somewhat of a ‘Everything’s troublesome” guy and one of those feminine clean-freaks, and Kimura Ryohei seems to be more suitable when I think of him in Diabolik Mosquitoes Lovers as Mukami Kou. But of course, KondouT and HirakawaD are both pretty famous for their ability to voice ‘H’ stuffs (; ・`ω・´) which is probably why they’re cast as the first two characters to draw more crowd.

Oz to Himitsu no Ai SS translations – Haruto

Sigh. If they didn’t put Hirakawa Daisuke as the first guy I would’ve gotten the whole series. I’ve nothing against the seiyuu, its just that his voice and the character he’s playing doesn’t match. The art is really nice so I wanted to buy the whole series like I did for Teikoku Star, but ヽ(´ー`)┌ no point spending on seiyuus you don’t really like.

The story of Rejet’s Oz: (ORZ :p)
The heroine sees a strange dream many times over, one in which she and six brothers pretend to be the characters of the Wizard of Oz in a place that looks like an orphanage… She remembers reading the story of Oz before and takes up the book, wondering what was the story about when suddenly she gets sucked into the world of Oz. In there, she hears a voice telling her “If you want to return to your own world, get the keys…” An adventure overflowing with mysterious possibilities starts as you head for the Emerald City. A broken world, and you who turn  mad…

The First Key: The tin man “Haruto”
CV: Hirakawa Daisuke
Release Date: April 23

The tsundere tin woodman who thinks he doesn’t have a heart, and so unconsciously uses words to hurt people mentally and emotionally. He’s more Tsun than Dere, and is blood brothers with Keisa and Chikage. Being the youngest of them 3, he usually gets something somehow in situations.

Jyuzaengi Sangokuden – Summary & Review

Jyuzaengi 2 is coming soon, figured I should finish the backlot of the first game and glad I did! (It saved me after the crap called shinobi koi utsutsu) This is one of the games I truly enjoyed, with a plothole-less storyline and a cool heroine that I don’t rage at, and 6 characters with well-developed routes.

* Most CGs are in the video, my media space is filling up lol.

** Main story **

The heroine is a half breed, half human and half Cat-clan, which makes her the only one with black eyes amongst the 300+ catty people living deep in the mountains. But she’s strong, and one of the best warriors in the clan.

heroinesnap047

One day, Sousou (above) who is the Warlord of a singular province, come to the mountains to look for some bandits. (The yellow cloth bandits, seriously) He discovers the cat people and decide to make up some excuse so he can take them into custody because he knows about the strength of the cat people – they have superhuman fighting abilities, and he wants to use them for his army.

Depending on whose route you’re on, you get to interact with different characters during this scene.

In (left), Chouhi, the childhood friend of the heroine goes to stop Kakouton (blue guy) who is the sub-general of Sousou. In (right), the heroine stops Kakouton herself. In another option, you run to Liubi (below) who is the leader of the cat clan, and you protect him while the fight goes on outside.

In the end, they decide to get under Sousou’s custody and find the bandits to defeat them, so they can clear their name and go back home. They pitch tents somewhere near Sousou’s army and one night, the heroine goes out to look for the bandits. She finds the leader and its revealed he is also a cat

He is trying to overthrow the humans and make the country into the cat’s place, so he hid his ears and used the bandits. Unfortunately, he gets defeated by Chouhi and the heroine, and Sousou pops out from somewhere. Sousou says that they should slice off the ears of Continue reading
